May 2014 Prayer Letter (by Stephen Underwood)

We are now six months into the deputation trail and I must say; we are having the time of our lives! God is providing in ways that we can only look to Him and give Him all the glory. As many others can testify; there is no greater joy and fulfillment than being in the center of God’s will.

Over the last two months, we have seen an amazing increase in churches that have partnered with my family to carry the gospel to South Africa!

We have also witnessed, as God’s people have been more than an encouragement to us on our travels. I pray that with each church we visit, and each message preached, that the Underwood family will be more of an encouragement to them as they are to us.

I would also take this moment to say thank you for your consistent and faithful prayers for our family. It is because of your intercession that I feel confident in asking you all to pray specifically about a few needs.

1) Please pray for our missionary friends in China. As many of you are aware already; two missionary families are being deported from the country for preaching Christ. I would ask you to consider having the Walz family and the Taube family into your church as they return to the United States for a short time during this transition.

Their contact information is as follows:
John Walz – walzinchina –
Jake Taube – jakesteph210 –

2) Please pray for the Coffey’s and Hall’s (South Africa) in the home going of their grandmother, the Coffey’s also for the home going of Amy’s Pappy. As well, the Bassham family (Thailand) for the home going of Philip’s grandfather. The loss of these loved ones are felt and mourned all over the world. Please remember our friends during their time of loss.

3) Lastly, would you pray with us about our survey trip coming up in June. We are very excited and trust that God will meet the financial costs of the trip. We are grateful that our Pastor, Tony Howeth will be accompanying my wife and I as well. He will be able to advise and provide insight to consider as we draw nearer and nearer to the field in which God has called us!

We truly believe that God has a special work to be done in the country of South Africa. We believe that His desire is to see every person saved, and that we are simply His instruments to carry His gospel to a lost and dying world. Thank you for aiding us in living out God’s will for our lives, and thank you for your continued prayer and support for the Underwood family!
