January Prayer Letter (by Kanon Bloom)

January was one of the best and busiest months of my life so far. God has blessed me in some amazing ways. It is great being his child. I have thought many times this month on Romans 1:7a which says, “to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:” It is great to know that no matter what happens in my life I can know that through Christ, I am loved of God and have been made a saint. This is great news!  Here are some highlights from the month of January.

Engagement: One of the most exciting moments of my life took place on January 25th when I asked Nancy Kelly to be my wife. She said, “Yes” and we are excited about serving the Lord together with our lives. We have set a date for our wedding.  It will be on Saturday October 24th in Hiawassee, GA. Please be in prayer for us. Pray that God would give me wisdom and strength to lead and love her. Also, pray that our relationship would grow stronger in the next few months even though we will be thousands of miles apart while I am in China.

Internship Support: As of January 30th I have raised 87% of my minimum support goal of $7,200 for my internship. I have been amazed at how God has been bringing it all in. I would never have thought that I would have had this much come in this early. I want to say a big thank you to everyone that has given towards my internship. You have been a huge blessing. Please pray that God will bring in the remainder of my support.

Friday Night Group: God has been blessing the Friday Night Bible Study / Youth Meeting that I was able to start back in November. This past Friday`s meeting was my biggest ever with 14 people attending. Over the month of January, I had five people come for their first time! Two of these visitors were completely new and have never been to the church. It has been exciting for me to get to share the Gospel and teach the Bible during these meetings. Please pray for people to come to salvation and for others to grow in their walk with the Lord. Please pray that everyone that comes will be able to get plugged in and involved in the regular services of the church. I am excited about what God is going to do with this ministry in the month of February.

OGTC Summit: I got to attend my second Our Generation Summit at the beginning of this month. The Summit is a missions retreat that my church puts on every year. It was a crazy couple of days. I got to be involved in helping other people from the church put on the conference. From setting up to teaching the kids to running the projector slides, I got to be involved. I also enjoyed the preaching times where I was challenged from the Bible to take seriously the church’s task to reach the entire world with the Gospel. Also, I was blessed to have my good friend Aaron Morgan attend the conference with me. It was a very fun and challenging time.

Outreach: We had a huge crowd show up for our big outreach breakfast and blitz day on one of the Saturdays in January. This was a big encouragement. Lots of tracts and invitations were given out. Also, we were able to knock on several doors and invite people to church. It was a great day. On another note, it seems like God has really been blessing me lately with opportunities to tell others about Christ. I am excited for the people that I have been able to share the Gospel with this month. Please pray that they will make a decision to trust Christ.

I am looking forward to getting to China. The time is getting closer and closer. I am excited about arriving there, but until I do I am hoping to work hard serving the Lord here. I am excited about all that he is going to do both here and there. I feel like I am living my dream right now. I am getting to tell others about Christ and teach them the word of God. This is what I love to do! Thanks for all your prayers. I hope you have a great month.

Sincerely,
   Kanon Bloom
