January 2014 Prayer Letter (by Jonathan Marks)

Dear Pastors, Partners, & Praying Friends,
NEW YEAR
We praise God for His continued blessing on us as we begin another year. God has done some very amazing things for us already.  The start of 2014 was spent in beautiful Pigeon Forge, TN for the OG Summit, an annual 3-day gathering of missions minded people. If you have never attended the Summit, you are missing out! Young or old, sender or goer, all can benefit from this fabulous event!  Make plans to attend next year.

BLESSINGS
We have had three new supporting churches partner with us and several pastors have given us meetings.  The Lord has allowed me to preach and present in many wonderful churches and has kept us safe throughout our travels.  All of these are blessings that we never take for granted.  But perhaps the greatest blessing so far this year, is the opportunity to visit Japan. This exciting trip is planned for the first of February and is an 8 day trip in which we plan to visit 9 different missionaries and national pastors in 5 different cities.  Please pray for the details to work out well with all involved.

VISION
I praise God for all of the great preaching that I have heard over the past few months, especially that of my pastor, Austin Gardner.  Few men have been used of God in my life like he has.  His zeal and love for the Lord flows over into all he does.  His passion for world evangelism is contagious, and I have caught it anew.  I am so blessed to be under such a godly man who is not only my pastor, but also my mentor and friend.  The Japanese people need the same godly example, the same Bible preaching, and the same mentor and friend that I have found in my pastor.  He has taught me so much about missions and I can’t wait to see God use me to plant churches, disciple believers and train leaders in a place that is so desperately needy.  Please pray for us as we are preparing to move our family to Japan for this very purpose.
