His will, not Mine

Devotional Thoughts

Luke 22:42

Our Lord Jesus Christ was in the garden praying to his father and said remove this cup from me – he was about to be taken, beaten and crucified. Obviously this was not a pleasant event to look forward to. But immediately after he asked his father to remove this cup from him, he responded by saying “not my will, but thine, be done”.

A very impacting example for us. We can never compare our situation to his pain and crucifixion, but it still is a great example of what attitude we should have. The majority of the time we just want out of the hard or bad situation. We want comfort, we want pleasure, we want everything comfortable, easy and perfect. But maybe we need to tell God that we want his will more than our own will.
