February ’15 Prayer Letter (by Chris Waye)

What an exciting first part of the year we have had in London! We want to thank each of you that have been praying over these last several months during the early days of planting Downham Baptist. We, along with our co-laborers the Snodes, have spent countless hours getting out invites, gospel literature, and working hard to see the church move into it’s new home. That day finally came just last week as the London City Mission turned the building over to the church’s use. Already there seems to be a peaked interest in the church due to the buildings rich history of being a place of worship and having a good reputation in the community.

Sunday evening, we had over 30 in attendance with several first time visitors. Travis and I had a special time being able to both preach during the first service in the new building. The folks in the church are all very excited and spent much of the day on Saturday involved in getting things ready. It has been exciting to see everyone coming together and taking a real interest in the church.

Please continue to pray for the youth outreach that is held on Friday nights. Travis and Jeff, along with Joel, Josh and Samuel have been faithfully coming along and really seem to be growing in the Word. Our prayer is that a young man out of this group might one day take the gospel and plant churches in another part of the city, or even across the world.

This month marks a year that we have been working in the church plant in London. It has been a lot of hard work, but a lot of blessings along the way to which we give the Lord all the credit. As Travis continues on now with this church plant, we will begin a short furlough as we prepare for the work ahead. If you would like us to come by your church, please get in touch as we would love to visit. We have limited openings until we leave for the field in the beginning part of summer.

We are so thrilled to be a part of the Lord’s work in getting the gospel to the world and seeing churches planted. We can’t thank you enough for your continued prayers and support that allow us to serve. Thank you for all your encouragement and support!

God bless!
