December 2014 Prayer Letter (by Mark Tolson)

As I write the last prayer letter for this year, I am humbled at all the Lord allowed us to do over the past 12 months. We know that everything that has been accomplished has been because of Jesus. He is the one who saves and changes lives! The Lord is working in China!

Persecution in Review: Our work in Dalian was visited twice by the police over the last year. Church members were taken into the police station for questioning. Our money and some other items were confiscated by the police. We didn’t know what was going to happen or how the Chinese believers would handle it. But in the end, the church grew stronger than it was before the persecution.

The work of our teammates in Harbin had been visited by the police on several occasions, but in the spring of this past year they were visited again. It resulted in two of our teammates being deported from China for five years. Thankfully, they trained men who are now carrying on the work in their absence. The two families who were deported have now moved to Taiwan and are working at planting a church and training men there.

Ministry in Review: At the beginning of this year we had one church going and a bible study that turned into a second church. When we returned from the US after the birth of our 3rd daughter, we merged these churches into one church and organized it as a local Baptist Church where I am the official pastor until the Lord raises up a man. Over this past year, we saw Chinese saved, baptized, discipled, and the church grow stronger. Young men have stepped up and are helping lead the church and are considering being full-time pastors. It is an exciting time to be in the ministry in China!

Visit from our Pastor: In the middle of November, we had a visit from our pastor, his wife and several friends. Our pastor helped us organize the church and spent several days teaching the men in Dalian and Harbin. We are thankful for his influence on our ministry. Also, we were privilege to travel with them to Taiwan and see the beginning of what God is going to do there through our teammates. We also enjoyed an encouraging time together with other team missionaries in Asia.

Thank you! We know that we couldn’t do anything without the help of God’s people. Thank you for giving, praying and being a part of our team, Project China.
